Up South barbecue Truck

It’s ManyFest weekend here in Winnipeg. Yesterday I took in the first day of the Food Truck Wars. Wanting to try some of the new trucks I went at lunch and at supper. One of the new trucks is Up South barbeque. I hadn’t come across Up South barbecue on the streets, but was aware of it as friends had tried it, and recommended it to me. Up South barbecue was the first of the trucks I visited yesterday. It…Continue readingUp South barbecue Truck

Island Fusion Food Truck

I’ve visited Island Fusion a couple of times since I wrote this review. I find the quality of the food is as good as when I initially visited. The one thing worth noting is that there are often specials on offer. Even if you’ve been several times before, it’s worth taking a look to see what new or limited items might be on offer. When I wrote about the Red River Ex, I mentioned that there was a truck serving…Continue readingIsland Fusion Food Truck

Simba Safari Grill

Simba Safari Grill is one of the trucks I visited when I went to the Red River Ex last month. Simba Safari Grill represents a new diversity on the Winnipeg food truck scene.  It’s owners are Kenyan and are bringing African cuisine to the streets. You’ll usually find them in the Tuxedo business park. A few years back I was involved with a group called FocusAfrica. This is a local group working to fight the ongoing AIDS crisis in Africa. …Continue readingSimba Safari Grill

Doner Delight from Iggy’s

Yesterday, I was wandering through downtown after meeting up for a quick coffee with a friend or two at Second Cup.  As I was approaching the Law Courts building I saw what appeared to be another new food truck.  I went over, and sure enough, it was.  This one is called Iggy’s Family Doner. (I realize there’s an umlaut, but it doesn’t translate well to the blog post).Given that there was only one person in front of me, I thought…Continue readingDoner Delight from Iggy’s

Fired Up Pizza, Glacial Service

Winnipeg’s food truck scene continues to grow.  It’s not surprising then that as it does so, there are more trucks offering the same type of food.  On my way to work earlier in the week, I noticed a new, blue truck on Broadway. This is Fired Up Pizza.  Last year saw the debut of The Red Ember Pizza Truck.  Red Ember sells wood-fired pizzas made from home-grown ingredients.  Fired Up doesn`t claim the home-grown part, but is also selling wood-fired…Continue readingFired Up Pizza, Glacial Service

Farewells, Food, Part One

When I first wrote these two posts 600+ words was considered a lengthy-ish post. So, today, with Google wanting 1200+ word posts I’m combing two posts on farewells. However I’m keeping the one title. holy trinityTomorrow I start my new job as Priest at St. Philip’s along with assisting at St. Mark’s.  Today, I say my farewells at L.C. Taylor.  Most of my time there has been doing tax preparation.  Seven years and about 3,800 returns later I’ve certainly had my…Continue readingFarewells, Food, Part One
