Best Meal – Food Truck

Well, spring has arrived and the food trucks are slowly trickling back out onto the street. So far, I have noticed only one new one, called Best Meal. I believe the Extreme Fries Truck is a repainted version of the one that was out before, but I could be corrected. (NB I have been corrected, it has a new owner as well, Bobbie Mack). Best Meal serves the usual assortment of hot dogs and hamburgers, but specializes in Middle Easter…Continue readingBest Meal – Food Truck

Walleye Wagon, Fish N Chips

Walleye Wagon Last Wednesday was Canada Day. This is our national birthday, and so it is a day long party. As with any good party there’s lots of food around. This is especially true in the world of food trucks, as many that aren’t on the streets regularly can be found at various Canada Day sites. While wandering around The Forks, one of the trucks I came upon that I hadn’t seen since the previous fall was the Walleye Wagon.…Continue readingWalleye Wagon, Fish N Chips

Churro Stop, Sweet Stop

As Winnipeg’s food truck scene continues to evolve, one area that is still a little under represented is the dessert area. There are a couple of ice cream trucks, and of course the ice cream bikes. However, other than Tokyo Rabbit, and these ice cream vendors, dessert is still a little hard to find. The entrance of The Churro Stop into the field helps to change this, and in the frozen treat area, Pop Cart sounds like they wish to…Continue readingChurro Stop, Sweet Stop

Greektown Food Truck

One of the best parts of all the food trucks in Winnipeg is that you can get a wide variety of foods. For me Greek food is one of the first non-British foods that I can remember eating on a regular basis. The first would be Indian. When we first moved to Winnipeg my dad worked on Ellice Avenue just down from Homer’s. I miss the old Greek restaurant that was in City Place. So, I was glad when Greektown…Continue readingGreektown Food Truck

Bannock Factory – Food Truck Alley

Last week I decided to take in The Bannock Factory Truck, another one of the newer food trucks on Winnipeg’s streets. Every year the appearance of new trucks is one of the marks of the ever growing food scene in Winnipeg. Not only are new trucks showing up on the street, but they are showing up in new locations as well. Broadway has gotten a little crowded at times, and it’s good to see the new spaces. The newest location…Continue readingBannock Factory – Food Truck Alley

Better than Baba’s

The menu for Better than Baba’s focuses on perogies and other Ukranian comfort foods such as cabbage rolls and borscht. It’s menu is similar to that of Baba’s Tall Grass Pantry, at The Forks. Given that my day was split up around the lunch hour, I decide I would make two visits. Yes, I ate two lunches in one day. So, here are my thoughts using my usual food truck formula. We’re half way into spring in Winnipeg. It seems…Continue readingBetter than Baba’s
