Bahn Ngon is a new Vietnamese restaurant on the corner of Sargent Avenue and Agnes Street. You may wonder why anyone would want to start a new restaurant during a pandemic. Just remember, this is Winnipeg. We open ice cream shops in the dead of winter. A little pandemic will not get us down. Stay tuned for my review of Habesha, another new restaurant. Habesha is Ethiopian, and just down the way from me on Ellice Avenue. Bahn Ngonis the…Continue readingBahn Ngon Vietnamese Restaurant – Sargent Avenue

Over the last few years I’ve reviewed about 20 or so Vietnamese restaurants. Even with that, there are still several that I haven’t gotten around to trying. One of these is Thanh HuongContinue readingThanh Huong Vietnamese Restaurant
I noticed a few weeks ago, that Have a Nice Day, the restaurant in The Good Will Social Club, had been replaced with Khao House. This is not a second location, but a new location for the restaurant that was originally located on Sherbrook Street. I’m not sure what brought about the decision to move, but I like the fact they dd. I really liked the food at Khao House, and I find myself stopping periodically for coffee at The…Continue readingKhao House – Sherbrook Street
Bourbon Street Grill
Every so often I run into a restaurant that doesn’t quite make sense. Bourbon Street Grill in St. Vital Centre is one such place. I first visited early in 2015 while Winnipeg was under it’s boil water advisory. I was meeting with a couple of clergy friends in the food court, and Bourbon Street Grill was one of the few available options. What I found strange was, while the restaurant offered a few Cajun style dishes the majority of the menu…Continue readingBourbon Street Grill
Vi-Ann Restaurant
For all the years I walked by it in Osborne Village, I never once visited Vi-Ann restaurant. I’m not sure why, although Spicy Noodle House has always been my Osborne Village stand-by. Then all of a sudden, in a controversial decision, Vi-Ann was gone. Eventually it re-opened on Notre Dame. However, it was only recently that I noticed the new location. This time I decided I had to make sure I tried it. So, in the last couple of weeks…Continue readingVi-Ann Restaurant
Nhu Quyhn is one of my favourite restaurants in Winnipeg. I first wrote this place up almost six years ago. I’ve been there on and off since then, but after a recent visit I wanted to do an update. Not much has changed here over the years. The tables are still covered with the same plastic table clothes. It still is fairly busy anytime you go in. Best of all the food is all still very good. On my last…Continue readingNhu Quyhn West End Treasure
