As I mentioned a couple of posts back, I’m starting on some reviews of new, and new to me, restaurants. 116 Sherbrook is a new food and drink emporium in the old Stella’s location on Sherbrook Street. 116 Sherbrook is home to Two Hands restaurant, and Good Neighbour Brewery and Taproom. As usual, I’ve made two visits. In this case I made one to taste the taproom menu, and one to taste the dining room menu. There is an overlap…Continue reading116 Sherbrook – Two Hands – Good Neighbour

Banza Noodle and Tea House occupies the space once home to Sherbrook Street Delicatessen. I am a fan of anything noodle related, so I looked forward to visiting Banza, but it took me a few months to get there the first time. My first time at Banza was a take-out meal. I was meeting with Mike Maunder and Terese Taylor from West End Streets, to discuss what has become my monthly restaurant review for that paper. For some reason I…Continue readingBanza Noodle and Tea House 102 Sherbrook
Roughage Eatery – Sherbrook Street
Roughage Eatery is a new, vegan restaurant located on Sherbrook Street in the house that used to be the home of Khao House. If you read the blog you know I am not a vegan. However, I try and keep on top of the movements within dining out. Plus. there is no reason that if you are a meat eater, you don’t make a habit of occasionally eating meat free, either vegetarian or vegan. Hours: Sunday – Closed Monday –…Continue readingRoughage Eatery – Sherbrook Street
Bistro Dansk – Sherbrook Street
Bistro Dansk is one of those place that falls into the category of: Often passed, never visited. One reason is that always seemed to be really busy when I was walking by. It also closes between lunch and supper service, so it was also closed some of the time. Finally they are also closed on Sundays and Mondays. Monday long being my day off. Bistro Dansk Hours Open Tuesday – Saturday Lunch: 11:00 am – 2:30 pm Dinner: 5:00 pm…Continue readingBistro Dansk – Sherbrook Street
Ivan’s Kitchen is a combination Filipino restaurant and burger joint. It’s located on Logan Avenue, just west of Sherbrook street. I first noticed Ivan’s Kitchen when they popped up in the Manitoba Food Bloggers group on Facebook. I’ve enjoyed Filipino first since I first discovered Jeepney, and am always on the lookout for new Filipino restaurants. Where Ivan’s Kitchen is located on Logan, the neighbourhood is an interesting mix. There are quite a few houses tucked away here and there,…Continue readingIvan’s Kitchen – Logan Avenue
Harmans is now closed. Back when I wrote up Akin’s restaurant, I mentioned that it was one of three restaurants that were part of the same building that houses both Mercadito Latino, and Harmans. Harmans is an Ethiopian restaurant with an interesting history. Harmans was originally a drug store that stood on the corner of Sherbrook Street and Portage Avenue. and among other things, was famous for its lunch counter. I have to admit, that for all the many times…Continue readingHarmans Cafe – Sargent Avenue
