Leopold’s Tavern, Village and Henderson

Leopold’s Tavern is a small sports bar chain in Western Canada. There are 20 soon to be 21 locations. I managed to visit two Leopold’s Tavern sites here in Winnipeg while on vacation. Both of these visits were of the unplanned variety. I had traveled down Henderson Highway one day, hoping to visit a couple of bakeries. One wasn’t open, and the other had not seating yet. My Osborne Village visit came after I had made my trip to   …Continue readingLeopold’s Tavern, Village and Henderson

Coffee Shops 3 New to Me

I like to find little coffee shops around the city when I get the chance. By and large I visit the same few places over and over. They work well with the my daily routines. I recently was on vacation though, and while I didn’t leave Winnipeg, the extra time gave me the opportunity to discover some new coffee shops I hadn’t visited before. Over the last month I visited three new ones: Colosimo Coffee Roaster, Small Mercies, and Empty…Continue readingCoffee Shops 3 New to Me

It exists on the second floor of a mixed-use building. I went there many years ago. I think it is close…Continue readingBangkok Thai Restaurant – Osborne Village

Sukkothai Restaurant – Osborne Village

While you may think, judging from my last three posts, that I been living on nothing beyond fried chicken, there are other restaurants I’ve been watching. One of these is Sukkothai restaurant, in Osborne village. Sukkothai Thai restaurant, is one of those places that I visited years ago, before my blogging days. The building it sits in on the west side of Osborne Street was once a KFC, or Champs if you go back far enough. The decor of the…Continue readingSukkothai Restaurant – Osborne Village

Konjac Spaghetti – Shirataki Rice

I was roaming through my local Safeway the other day. I happened to look towards the bottom of one of the pasta aisle shelves and noticed this new (to me) product. It’s called Konjac Spaghetti, by a company called nuPasta. Underneath the  company  name,  you  can  see that the product is referred to as the low calorie pasta. When I first picked up the box, the thing that confused me was the weight. It’s listed as 210 g. However, when…Continue readingKonjac Spaghetti – Shirataki Rice
