Oakwood Cafe on Osborne Street falls into that category of a place that I visited before I started blogging, but haven’t visited since. The South Osborne neighbourhood is one that has transformed a lot over the last 20 years. Much like the east end of Corydon Ave. coffee shops, cafes, and restaurants, have sprouted up along this street. Oakwood Cafe is one of the flagship restaurants of this renaissance. It began as a place called Samantha’s, but has existed as…Continue readingOakwood Cafe – 600 Osborne St.
Every year I list fall suppers. This year I added a second list. This year I managed to visit six different fall suppers in Winnipeg. Next year I may have to branch out and visit some of the rural ones. That would require me finding a driver. Last night’s fall supper at the Southlands Community Church(Salvation Army). was the sixth of the ones I visited. This last one turned out to be a little confusing for the Anglican me, as…Continue readingSouthlands Salvation Army Fall Supper

St Saviours is located in the north east of Winnipeg. It’s in a working class neighbourhood. There is a lot of residential housing, with several industrial offices not all that far away. There are a few community groups that are part of the parish(of that more…Continue readingSt Saviours Anglican Fall Supper
Holy Trinity turkey dinner. I’m in the middle of a busy food weekend. Friday night I went over to Bella Vista Restaurant. Ross Jeffers, who formerly owned Cafe 1958, is now in charge at Bella Vista. Friday was opening night for him, and I wanted to pop in for dinner. I’ll have a review after I’ve paid a couple more visits. Today, I’m heading over to Holy Rosary for their fall spaghetti dinner. Last night, I was at Holy Trinity…Continue readingTurkey Dinner at Holy Trinity Anglican
Last night I got to the St Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church fall supper. This is my first fall supper of the year. St Anne has a connection with one of my last year’s visits. St Anne shares pastoral leadership with St Michael Ukrainian Catholic Church. Yesterday, was quite a full day. If started with St. Philip’s and St. Mark’s sharing a joint Eucharist. Then I headed down to Holy Trinity to take part in a discussion about the food ministry…Continue readingSt Anne Ukrainian Catholic Fall Supper
Every year I do a post on Winnipeg Fall Suppers. This year there seems to be a gap in the rural Manitoba Fall Suppers listings, so I’m setting up a post for those as well. If you would like your Manitoba Fall Supper added, just post in the comments, or contact me via macbubs13 at google’s webmail dot com. I don’t have a map plug-in working for my blog yet, I will try and add one as I go along.…Continue readingManitoba Fall Suppers 2019 Edition
