ManyFest Meanderings

Last week marked the annual return of ManyFest, Winnipeg’s big donwtown festival, highlighted by Winnipeg’s Food Truck Wars. This is the first year in a few that i haven’t really taken in much ot the festival. Usually I find it a good place and time to check out the food trucks I’ve heard about but haven’t yet had the chance to visit. However, a combination of bad weather and a busier church schedule meant I only spent a little time aound…Continue readingManyFest Meanderings

Donuts, Coffee, Beer N Chips

Despite the title making it seem like I may have some sort of culinary death wish, it’s simply a description of my day Saturday. I was up early and headed out to Fools + Horses. Fool + Horses is my favourite writing spot, and I was there to chronicle my experiences on the first day of ManyFest. As I was getting ready in the morning I checked Facebook and saw a post from my friend Kent Dueck. The location in Dugald is a retail…Continue readingUkrainian Comfort Food – Estellia’s

In between the weekend included more Food Trucks, and a 50th anniversary BBQ at Church of the Way. I’m calling this post Weekend Food Wanderings because the weekend involved a…Continue readingWeekend Food Wanderings

Walleye Wagon, Fish N Chips

Walleye Wagon Last Wednesday was Canada Day. This is our national birthday, and so it is a day long party. As with any good party there’s lots of food around. This is especially true in the world of food trucks, as many that aren’t on the streets regularly can be found at various Canada Day sites. While wandering around The Forks, one of the trucks I came upon that I hadn’t seen since the previous fall was the Walleye Wagon.…Continue readingWalleye Wagon, Fish N Chips

Up South barbecue Truck

It’s ManyFest weekend here in Winnipeg. Yesterday I took in the first day of the Food Truck Wars. Wanting to try some of the new trucks I went at lunch and at supper. One of the new trucks is Up South barbeque. I hadn’t come across Up South barbecue on the streets, but was aware of it as friends had tried it, and recommended it to me. Up South barbecue was the first of the trucks I visited yesterday. It…Continue readingUp South barbecue Truck
