Fête Ice Cream & Coffee – Assiniboine Avenue

Fête is a new ice cream shop in Winnipeg, located on the main floor of a recently built high rise, just a couple of blocks west of The Forks.  Fête* opened in winter, because Winnipeg is a winter city. The reason Winnipeg is Slurpee Capital of the World, is because people buy them at +35C and -35C. Check their website (linked below) for hours. For now they are open for pickup. *Fête also offers vegan ice treats, along with Gluten…Continue readingFête Ice Cream & Coffee – Assiniboine Avenue

Turkey Dinner at Holy Trinity Anglican

Holy Trinity turkey dinner. I’m in the middle of a busy food weekend. Friday night I went over to Bella Vista Restaurant. Ross Jeffers, who formerly owned Cafe 1958, is now in charge at Bella Vista. Friday was opening night for him, and I wanted to pop in for dinner. I’ll have a review after I’ve paid a couple more visits. Today, I’m heading over to Holy Rosary for their fall spaghetti dinner. Last night, I was at Holy Trinity…Continue readingTurkey Dinner at Holy Trinity Anglican

Fionn MacCool’s Grant Park Shopping Centre

Every so often I like to visit McNally Robinson’s Booksellers at Grant Park Shopping Centre. They have a quite lovely restaurant called Prairie Ink. One restaurant that I’ve recently tried, is Fionn MacCool’s an Irish pub chain. The restaurant is…Continue readingFionn MacCool’s Grant Park Shopping Centre

Chaeban Ice Cream – From Cow to Cone

Chaeban Ice Cream, open now in the spot where the old Banana Boat used to be has created quite a stir since it opened. Not the least was the audacity to open an ice cream story in the middle of the cold of a Winnipeg winter.Yesterday I attended a social media event to which I had been invited by the Chaeban social media coordinator Kristi Nikkel. It was a chance to learn a little about the ice cream store’s story.…Continue readingChaeban Ice Cream – From Cow to Cone

Decadence Chocolates

Over the last few months as I’ve headed down Sherbrook, I’ve noticed signage for a new chocolate shop called Decadence Chocolates. Finally, in the last month or so, Decadence Chocolates opened. The first thing I noticed when I stepped in was the brightness of the location. The woods are light coloured and the walls are white, with the production area on one wall, and several tables along the other. With the production area located in the open it also allows…Continue readingDecadence Chocolates
