Sandwiches are Beautiful is a new restaurant in Saint Vital. This is place I have only tried via delivery. Looking it up on Google, it appears to be located in the Riverside Inn. I’ve never visited the dining room their. However, on three or four occasions I’ve made stops at Limelight Karaoke bar.
Sandwiches are Beautiful at Fried Chicken Fest
My first visit to the restaurant came during Fried Chicken Fest. I ordered the Rancho Cucamunga. You can read about my thoughts on that sandwich by clicking on the above link. At the time I decided that I would give the restaurant another try in a couple of weeks.
On my first order, I added the house made Orange Soda. I did so with a bit of trepidation. My previous experience with a house made soft drink was the Root Beer from Wienerpeg. I didn’t really enjoy that one.
This Orange Soda is really good. Although the colour maybe a little on the light side, the flavour is good. There is also not too much sweetness.
Cheesesteak, Plus Mac and Cheese
My next time ordering I figured I would go with a sandwich, side, and beverage. My sandwich is the Philly Cheesesteak. The side is the Loaded Macaroni and Cheese. Finally I added the house made Cream Soda.
Starting with the Mac and Cheese, 〈photo at top〉. This is a good portion of mac and cheese for a side dish. It could suffice as a light lunch all on it’s own. There is a good mixture of toppings, including plenty of bacon. I also like that it is not overly runny.
The Philly Cheesesteak is also a good choice. The strips of beef are well-seasoned and there is a good mixture of vegetables to go along with. I do not have a lot of experience with this sandwich, but it seems it could use a little more cheese.
Once again, I find the house made soda to be a real knockout. This time around I ordered the Cream Soda. Flavour-wise it took me back to the Cream Sodas I remember as a child. Maybe it is just me, but the newer Cream Sodas, seem to sit heavy on the stomach with too much carbonation.
This version here is really light and refreshing. I hope that at some point they get around to bottling it and making it available at various retailers.
There is not a wide variety of items on the menu at Sandwiches are Beautiful, but I do hope to get around to trying a few more of them over the course of time. I particularly want to give one of their burgers a try.
Hopefully I will be able to get down there and try a dine in experience. Who knows, I may even head over to the Limelight afterwards for a couple of rounds of Karaoke.
