Nou Eul Tor – Korean Restaurant

Nou Eul Tor is now closed. In it’s place is Gladys Caribbean Kitchen. You can find my review of that restaurant here.  I’m not really a make a reservation type of person. I tend to show up and hope that I’ll find myself a seat. Sometimes this works out well, and sometimes it means I have to go visit a restaurant a few times before I complete two visits. Still other times, it leads me to trying places I wasn’t…Continue readingNou Eul Tor – Korean Restaurant

Fusian Experience – Forks Market

The transformation of the centre of The Forks Market continues to take shape. One of the biggest changes is that most of the new food vendors are more upscale. Fusian Experience falls into this category. Fusian Experience at The Forks Market has closed, but they have opened up a dessert place on Main St.  Fusian Experience brings the flavours and styles of their Academy Road location in a stripped down version to The Forks. The menu is roughly divided in…Continue readingFusian Experience – Forks Market

Chosabi Asian Eatery, IRL

Last Thursday, I attended an event at Chosabi Asian Eatery that was fundraising for the Health Sciences Centre foundation. You might recognize the letters at the end of the title, as standing for In Real Life. One of the elements of social media that has been missing from my life for the last little while has been the meeting in real life of people I’m connected to on the web. One of the surprising discoveries when I first got on…Continue readingChosabi Asian Eatery, IRL

Seoul Nami – Downtown, Underground

The other day I was underground at Portage and Main and decided I would make a stop for lunch at Seoul Nami which sits in the rotunda between Winnipeg Square and the Richardson building. There has been a lot of talk recently about possibly re-opening Portage and Main to pedestrian traffic. Moving to Winnipeg in 1980, I’ve only known a closed corner. Meanwhile, the underground has been part of my life at various times. I worked at Henry Armstrong’s in…Continue readingSeoul Nami – Downtown, Underground

Wasabi on Broadway

About two and half weeks ago there was a post in the Manitoba Food Bloggers Group on Facebook asking if anyone was interested in a blogger/dinner event with Wasabi restaurants. I put my name down and last night found myself at the Wasabi location on Broadway.Like all of these events, the best part of last night is the people you get to dine with. There were several new people, such as Katie, Nisha (who organized the event, thanks), Cody(I think,…Continue readingWasabi on Broadway

Waki Temaki Sushi Truck

When I did my preliminary Food Truck Power Rankings, I mentioned that there were three trucks that I still hadn’t tried. I’ve now visited Waki Temaki Sushi Truck, so I can knock that number down to two. Waki Temaki is run by the owner and chef of Yujiro Japanese Restaurant on Grant Avenue. You can generally find the Waki Temaki truck on Broadway in one of the blocks close to the Legislature. Winnipeg has approximately 12,000 sushi restaurants*. This is a…Continue readingWaki Temaki Sushi Truck
