Baraka Pita Bakery – North Main

Last month was Diocesan Synod. I went to Baraka Pita for supper on the Friday night. That’s the opening night of the Synod, with a Eucharist at St. John’s Cathedral. When I went to look up places down  North Main, I was surprised that it was late 2015 when I first visited Baraka Pita Bakery. So I figured that seven years between visits made it a good candidate for a revisit. I ended up giving myself a good amount of…Continue readingBaraka Pita Bakery – North Main

Ramallah Cafe Great Food at 325 Pembina Hwy

Ramallah Cafe on Pembina Highway is one of those restaurants that fall into the category of: I’ve been meaning to get there, but somehow just never got around to it. Fortunately, last month was my birthday. I share the month with our theology student, Susan, and so I was asked to pick a restaurant for a joint birthday lunch. So, I said, let’s try Ramallah. This turned out to be a welcome suggestion, and so that’s where the birthday lunch…Continue readingRamallah Cafe Great Food at 325 Pembina Hwy

Beaurivage Bistro – Saint B Hotel

Beaurivage Bistro is now located at 788 Corydon Avenue. The location is new, but I have it on good authority, that the food is still as great as when I wrote this review. Les Saj Restaurant – 1038 St. James St.

My Les Saj review has been over two years in the making. It wasn’t meant to be, but after my first visit in 2018 it took me over three years to make it back. Granted, Covid had something to do with that, but it was so long there is no way I can trust my memory of that first meal. Les Saj is a strip mall restaurant. However once inside, there is quite attractive seating. The kitchen is on the…Continue readingLes Saj Restaurant – 1038 St. James St.

Altanour Restaurant 587 Notre Dame Ave

I’ve been making a few restaurant visits, but need to catch up on my reviews. Here is one for Altanour Restaurant, a Lebanese-Turkish restaurant in my neck of the woods.  I’ve made a couple of visits to the restaurant, but this post will be based on my most recent. Mainly because most of the photos from the first visit are in an old phone, that I have misplaced. Dining in at Altanour One of the things I like about dining…Continue readingAltanour Restaurant 587 Notre Dame Ave

Daanook Syrian Restaurant – Exchange

Daanook Syrian Restaurant is one I’ve been hearing about quite a bit lately. The family that owns it have been getting a fair bit of coverage in the local press.  When I finally got around to looking Daanook restaurant up, I discovered they were located in the space that once belonged to Vicky’s. Daanook Takeout The first time I placed an order. I opted for takeout. The restaurant is only a few blocks from Holy Trinity, so it made for…Continue readingDaanook Syrian Restaurant – Exchange
