Harrisons Coffeehouses, Coffee Roaster

Harrisons Coffeehouses and Coffee Roaster is a newish entry into the Winnipeg coffee scene. There are three locations in the city. One at The Forks, one on Waterfront Drive, and one at the Outlet Collection. My visits have all been to The Forks location. In addition to the three coffeehouses, they also have a roastery at The Forks. One thing that has changed for me during the pandemic, is how infrequently I get to The Forks. Typically I would be…Continue readingHarrisons Coffeehouses, Coffee Roaster

Modern Coffee – Inkster Boulevard

I’ve been seeing posts on Facebook about Modern Coffee for the last few weeks. The place looked and sounded to be quite an interesting new coffee choice. I don’t get up to the north end of Winnipeg very often, but last Saturday was the installation service for the Right Rev. Geoff Woodcroft, the new bishop of our Diocese of Rupert’s Land. The installation was held at St. John’s Cathedral, which is located just off of Main Street. The service was…Continue readingModern Coffee – Inkster Boulevard

The Canteen Coffee Shop – Tache Avenue

A couple of months ago I visited Blackbird Brasserie. At the time, the space that had housed Bouchée Boucher’s retail operations was still under renovation. This renovation has produced a new coffee shop, called The Canteen coffee shop. The ownership is the same, and this is the second The Canteen coffee shop location, as there is another one on Stafford Street, just down the road from The Grove. The interior of The Canteen is very much the same as it…Continue readingThe Canteen Coffee Shop – Tache Avenue

San Vito Coffee – Silver Heights Shopping Centre

I’m continuing on with my visits to Saint James restaurants. Today’s location is San Vito Coffee House. San Vito Coffee House is located on Portage Avenue in the Silver Heights Shopping Centre, a small, strip mall in the middle of Saint James. San Vito is located at the west end of the mall. Stepping inside it reminds me of The Fyxx on Donald, or the original location of The Daily Grind. There are lots of windows that give lots of…Continue readingSan Vito Coffee – Silver Heights Shopping Centre

Garry Street Coffee, Human Bean Coffee + Tea

Downtown Winnipeg has recently seen the opening of two new coffee shops. Or to be more precise, one new coffee shop, and an old coffee shop that has relocated. The new shop is Garry Street Coffee, located at 333 Garry Street, and the relocated shop is Human Bean Coffee & Tea, which after leaving both The Forks, and the Millenium Library, has reopened in Cityplace, just across the street from the library. In some ways the two shops are quite…Continue readingGarry Street Coffee, Human Bean Coffee + Tea

Scout – Kid-Friendly Coffee Space

Coffee shops are great gathering places. They’re great for getting together for planning meetings, for small group idea sharing, or just for having some time to spent with a good friend or two. Unfortunately, most of them aren’t designed with children in mind. Scout Coffee + Tea on Portage Avenue has just changed all that. Now, let me start of by saying, that in my experience, places such as Fools and Horses, Thom Bargen, Parlour, Strong Badger, and others are…Continue readingScout – Kid-Friendly Coffee Space
