Shawarma at Falafel Queen

On my first trip up to Broadway this summer, I took pictures of several food trucks with the intention of visiting them later.  The second truck I visited was the Falafel Queen truck, which serves traditional mid-eastern fare such as falafels and shawarma.  For lunch, I had the Beef Shawarma combo (with fries and drink). Value: All the mains are $6.00 or $7.00, in addition they offer combos of main, samosa or fries, and soft drink for $9.00 and $10.00 respectively. …Continue readingShawarma at Falafel Queen

Food and the Fringe Festival

While there is often talk about how Winnipeg is behind the times when it comes to portable food offerings, particularly food trucks, the change is coming to the city, and you really start to notice it when events such as the Fringe Festival are on.  It wasn’t that long ago when the India Palace tent and the odd hot dog cart were the only options available when you went to the outdoor stage at the Fringe. Common Eating – Gathering up the Crumbs

I’ve finally come to the final post in this series on common eating, although I may do one more with the pdf form of all the posts if anyone wants to have them all in one place.  Again, as has happened at other times during this series I’m not sure that I have come up with the correct name for this last class.  My original idea was to call it leftovers, but that sounded a little to cheesy, even for…Continue readingCommon Eating – Gathering up the Crumbs

Visits, Social Graces, CE – Week 12

Of the various parts of ministerial training and development that make me shake my head, the “yes, but that’s what we had to do,” approach to training is right up at the top.  Usually, it will relate to something like hospital visits, for example.  You’ll suggest that, wouldn’t it be a good idea if priests in training got the chance to role play these before we actually have to do one. Learning about Visits Generally, the person you are talking…Continue readingVisits, Social Graces, CE – Week 12
