Winnipeg’s Best Butter Tart

Over the last little while I’ve written a couple of posts, where the purchase of a Butter Tart was part of my visit to the establishment. I’ve had some good response to this, so I thought maybe now would be the time to do a post on Winnipeg’s best Butter Tart. Obviously, such a post is only the opinion of one man. So, I don’t expect that everyone, or anyone for that matter, will agree with my choices. This is…Continue readingWinnipeg’s Best Butter Tart

MB Food Fest 2022

This allowed me to take a leisurely approach to getting to the event, and once done, get home by early evening. Having the Sunday off from Holy Trinity, I visited St. Margaret’s in the morning. St. Margaret’s is a parish where I spent a few years as an honourary assistant. Yesterday morning gave me a…Continue readingMB Food Fest 2022

Mottola Grocery, One Stop…Continue readingMottola Grocery 242 Hargrave Street

The Manitoba Box – A Culinary Staycation

I stopped at one of my local Safeway stores the other day to pick up The Manitoba Box. This box is advertised as containing 22 locally produced items, and sells for $49.99. Most of the items in the box are food and beverage items for human consumption. There is a dog treat, and some lip balm as well. The first thing to make clear is that this The Manitoba Box should not be confused with this one. Both feature Manitoba…Continue readingThe Manitoba Box – A Culinary Staycation

Lisbon Bakery – Mordens Chocolate

Lisbon Bakery and Mordens Chocolate are two specialty food outlets, that are within a couple of blocks of where I live. Both have been in business for a long time, in fact this year is the 60th anniversary for Mordens. Of the two, I more frequently visit Lisbon Bakery. It’s open early and a good place to pick up a cheap treat. I also went more frequently when The Strong Badger was open. I don’t head down Sargent as much…Continue readingLisbon Bakery – Mordens Chocolate
