BBK Barbeque Trailer

I mentioned in my post on the Red Lake Coffee Co Truck, that on Canada Day, I had also eaten at BBK Barbeque trailer and that I’d include a review of that trailer shortly.

BBK has been around for quite a few years now. It’s more of an event trailer than a street truck, so I don’t see it out that often. I have though, over the last few years had a chance to try several of their items.

BBK sauces

BBK offers a wide variety of sauces to their customers.

This is a comment I made on one of my earlier visits to the truck.

I started my weekend in the early afternoon. I had already had lunch, but still had enough room to stop at one of the trucks. I decided on the Beef Brisket from BBK. BBK is the upscale partner truck to Extreme Fries.* In ordering I went with the plain sandwich and didn’t add any condiments. The brisket itself was tender and fatty in a very good way.

*Extreme Fries is now under new ownership.

So here’s my typical food truck breakdown on BBK:

Value:

As I said in the above quote this trailer is an upscale version of a typical burger/hot dog truck. That being said, you still get good value here. The portion sizes are quite large, and the quality of the food is also high. There are plenty of light lunch items on the menu, and combos as well. 4.5/5

Selection:

The selection here is one of the best on the food truck scene. From burgers and dogs to pulled pork parfaits, onion rings, yam fries, there really is pretty much something for everyone. 5/5

Quality

The quality is also quite high at BBK. The meat  in the pulled pork parfait was tender and the mashed potatoes were really smooth. They make a really good baked beans (no picture) and their onion rings are among the better in the city. 4.5/5

BBK onion rings

Good, crispy onion rings from BBK

Portability:

Most of the items that BBK offers come in containers. There’s no lid on the parfait, which is ok as long as it’s not a wet day out. On the whole it’s easy to carry. 4.5/5

Service:

The service at the trailer is quite good. Orders are taken quite efficiently and prepared reasonably quickly even when there are lineups. The staff is friendly as well. 4.5/5

BBK condiments

The condiments are kept covered, protecting them from the elements.

BBK Barbeque Trailer Overall

This is a really good trailer. Especially if you are out with a group. There is enough variety to keep almost everyone happy. 4.5/5
