Return to Smashbox

While this may sound like a really bad movie title, this post is simply a follow-up to the one I made on the 17th of July.  That was on the first day they were open and so I decided that before giving it a rating, I would wait a little while and try it again. A lot of the comments on the original post hold true, so I will just make comments on changes I had noted.  This time it will also get a rating.

Value:  One thing to note here is that prices are not tax inclusive, making the mains about $.70-.80 more expensive than listed on the board.  Most other trucks don’t use this technique. 3/5

Selection: 4/5

Quality:  This is moving in the right direction.  the gravy is now brown, and the fries were no longer simply air-filled but had substance to them once you bit in.  The gravy was a little sparse, meaning the last bit was kind of dry.  My serving was also not very hot.  I ordered the Bacon Madness this time around, and it came with a cheese sauce of the type you get from 7-11, even though it was not advertised as such. 3/5 although I might have given it a little higher had there been no cheese sauce.  Let me say though, that the quality is moving in the right direction and with a couple of little tweaks should reach a 4/5 level.

Portability: 4.5/5

Service: 5/5

Overall: 3.5/5, but showing signs that it will continue to get better.

  1. Hi,

We received a request from Urbanspoon user “Donald McKenzie” (641979145@facebook.user) claiming that they are the author of Dining with Donald. It sounds like you, but I’m writing to verify that this is the case and that you want to allow Donald McKenzie to manage your blog on Urbanspoon.

You can visit the Urbanspoon page for Dining with Donald here:

Please reply via email and let me know whether or not we should approve this claim.

  2. Thanks, Donald! I just approved your blog claim. Now your Urbanspoon profile picture is displayed on your blog page. You can upload a blog-specific photo if you prefer, and can change a few other blog settings there. Also, if you vote for a restaurant that you’ve reviewed on your blog, we now show your vote next to your post everywhere on our site.
