I was looking back through my posts yesterday, and I noticed the one about Aqua Books closing that I wrote on August 11 of last year. At the time it seemed like the end was nigh for the popular bookstore, eatery performance venue. The intervening 10 months has been difficult for owner Kelly Hughes, and you can read more about that on the Aqua website.
However, starting today at 4:00 p.m. Aqua Books will be reopening at its new location of 123 Princess Street. The store will be a little different, for one thing there will be no Eat! Bistro, but there will be food available(I don’t know if this will be the case for the opening itself. There will be fewer books, but there will still be books for sale. There will also still be performance space, so Aqua Books will continue to be one of the best performance spaces in Winnipeg.
So, even though you won’t find them on Garry Street any more, take the time to visit the new location at 123 Princess street. Let’s make sure Aqua Books keeps going for another 20 or so years.
