In attempting to generate traffic for this blog, I recently dropped the WordPress out of the URL and when simply with Bubslurbs for my domain. While I haven’t seen an appreciable difference in traffic, it certainly has brought me an increased amount of spam. In the last month I’ve had 8-10 times as much spam as I did in the previous 91/2.
That’s not as troublesome as it sounds. The reason is that Akismet, the built in spam protection program from WordPress does a terrific job in picking up the spam. It does however leave quite a few for me to decide whether they should be considered spam or not. Some of these are occasionally almost believable as genuine comments but most aren’t.
Below are a few of the ones I’ve received in the last few days, along with which post they were connected to(the poor choice of post is usually a dead giveaway). Spelling errors in the comments are as originally written.
Thank you for the sensible critique. Me and my neighbor were just preparing to do some research about this. We got a grab a book from our local library but I think I learned more from this post. Im very glad to see such wonderful info being shared freely out there.
The post that generated this comment? One about how badly the Bombers had played the previous day.

I cant say that I completely agree, but then once again Ive never genuinely thought of it quite like that before. Thanks for giving me something to take into consideration when Im supposed to have an empty mind even though trying to fall asleep tonight lol..
This was again for my Movember post.
I believe one of your commercials caused my internet browser to resize, you might nicely want to put that on your blacklist.
I’ll do that right away, because the last thing I want to do is cause grief to a spammer(I’ve had several comments, including the one immediately above, from this site already). This is the article that generated that response.
Your artilce was excellent and erudite.
I received this comment twice. At least they were making their appeal to my vanity by referring to an article that had a bit of depth to it.
Well, there’s my rant on spamming. Now I think I’ll head over to Twitter and find out all those unbelievable things being said about me in all those bad blogs.
